Shop Software
Re: Shop Software
If you're listing products for sale on someone else's website, like Ebay or Etsy, you fill out fields in a form, and upload photos in a predefined fairly user friendly web page. Is there software available for setting up your own webshop that you can host on your own website which works in a similar way, i.e. filling in a form on a webpage, with minimal/no additional coding?
Re: Shop Software
Opencart is definitely the best software, my main shop is wehaveany.com
Its opensource, and you host yourself

Re: Shop Software
Opencarts is a shop. But i think Tim is looking for something that can be placed on ready website. If so the ECWID is perfect solution. You can put it on Facebook, blog or any web site. It has very user friendly interface like ebay. Fill out fields, add pics and iff you go

Re: Shop Software
Sorry if my query wasn't clear.
We have an existing website for our designed products, currently in Wordpress. It is basic, but does the job in terms of giving information, and links through to our other pages on the net - FaceBook, Etsy and Folksy shops etc. Ideally we want the shop on our own site, so am wanting information on software to use. As the current site is quite basic, I don't mind starting again to set up a shop, but I want software that is easy to set up and as user friendly as posting a new for sale advert on a site like Ebay, Etsy, Folksy - if such a thing exists. We want to be able to have as many things for for sale as we need, and be able to quickly and easily list them. Currently we have over 150 products on Folksy, and around 20 on Etsy, and have more products that we haven't listed yet. We need to be able to have them in categories.
Our webhost includes Softaculous, and we can easily install OpenCart and a load of other softwares from CPanel. I remember looking at OpenCart and thinking it didn't look too easy to set up, but I may not have looked properly. Gonna have another look , and check out ECWID too.

Re: Shop Software
Thankyou thankyou thankyou!
ECWID looks perfect
we'd been looking at mysupadupa, but this is hosted on their website, so doesn't integrate into your own websirte, and pricing is about the same as ECWID if you change the £ sign to a $ - i.e. ECWID is about half the price and you get 2500 products instead of 150!
me and the wife very happy and excited!
This forum is well worth £10 a year in how it benefits our business ... I've looked at so many shopping options, and not come across ECWID - I suppose the next question then is, is there anything else like ECWID before we jump in.

Re: Shop Software
The main difference between ECWID and opencart is ECWID you have to form to there layout controls,
opencart you are free to do whatever you want
opencart you are free to do whatever you want
Re: Shop Software
With ecwid you have access to code so you can change things to. Lets be honest. Opencart is mot that great imo and support is not existent
