If like me you use bought, made or downloaded unusual or not run of the mill fonts, and swashes don't forget to back these up as well as your other data. I found out the hard way when my pc died the other week, I have spent ages tacking down fonts. So back them up, go on do it now

Good tip, but not reinstalling all of them is good way of cleaning up the fonts you didn't need in the first place. I wait until photoshop tells me that I have a font missing when the file is opened up.

Any font I have that is not 'run of the mill' is in my dropbox folder - so pretty safe :-)

I tend to make a 'drive image' very easy to do with Win 7 and not so bad with 8.1 once you find the command. It makes a clone of your system and has been a godsend to me in the past. Clones everything so a complete drive failure is not a disaster and everything goes back exactly the way it was.
I also run a RAID setup so one drive is mirrored to another, I've had 6 or 7 drives go down in the last 4 years but at least I could carry on without too many tears. A good backup routine is very important and often overlooked
