So today i finally got on with trying out the vinyl cutter properly and decided to cut some of the metallic silver vinyil i have got and press it onto a tee.

I dropped the pressure down to 40g but after pressing i realised even that was too much, there were cuts into the plastic backing, it was only when peeling i found them, so tonight i will try a lower setting.

I grabbed a cheap t shirt from peacocks to use as its opposite me and i got it for a quid or so, 100% cotton and in a dark navy blue.

I took the logo font and used that in illustrator, appllied a curve to it and then did the cut, I then took one of my skulls and changed it adding scroll work and other features. Now i havent weeded before and after weeding these i realised that lots of detail is fine, if you have an hour to spend weeding!!!!!

Here are the pictures of my first ever vinyl cut, weed and press.

Really happy how it came out and how fine i got the cuts to go. Next i will be trying a multi layer cut with some really high gloss chrome vinyl.

Hi scott i have to give you guys at bms a call in the week anyway i need some supplies again. will let you know how things go though thanks

I found the weeding to be quire calming actually, i just sat there picking it out for an hour with the sun on me this morning sat in the office.

Just wondering , does anyone know if the mh721 cutter can go in lower than 10g increments for pressure? wondering if it will do -/+ 1 increments?

Thats an awesome design ssp!. At least on your cutter you can set the pressure with a digital guage... I only have a 1-6 setting. No idea what pressures they relate to but between 1.5-2 works best.. slightly more for flock and metallics. As for the therapeutic part of weeding, I totally agree... I did a mirror the other day with loads of fine scroll work.... took me forever but the result was well worth it like your teeshirt!

Hey ssp, can you remove the blade and wind it back into it's tube a half mm or so?

Truly great design! You should do really well. Weeding is time consuming, but as has been said, can be quite therapeutic. It can't be rushed, so it gives time for a breather.

make sure your blade is set at the right depth, it may not be the setting at all it might just be you have too much blade protruding out. good luck with the chrome, we dont like its wash n wear so have stopped using it
