How do you sublimate a ceramic tile. Is the image underneath the tile or on top? I have looked at u tube and the ceramic tile is on top. I have found some keepsake boxes but the image goes onto a ceramic tile instead
of a substance like a coaster.

Not done any ceramic tiles in a while but when I did......Paper on top as per coasters etc. I used a silicon mat to ensure the image went over the slight curve on the edge of mine. Can't remember how long they take...a long time! Prob. 7 minutes+. Very hot when they're done and more importantly, very brittle when hot so handle carefully.

I like the MDF style tiles that go into some keepsake boxes, look very good printed and a lot easier to work with. Ceramic tiles do look nice when printed though... especially in a mural.

I tend to wrap the print around the tile taping the edges up. Takes a bit longer but seems to make a difference. Then with the tile face up and the print face down I put a silicon blanket over the whole thing and press at 200 degrees for 7 minutes. I've tried heating through the tile to the print but never been successful. Just recently did a 40x30 inch mural as a backsplash for a kichen in a villa out here in Grenada and it looked fab.

I do my tiles with the tile print face down at 200C for 4 minutes, works perfectly for me. I'm hoping to open a bar soon and looking at that picture, I think I might just print myself some before I leave the business!!! Good idea!
