On good authority we have sneaked a look at the new Royal Mail postage prices coming in shortly. If it goes ahead you are looking at the following

1 x Mug in Poly box first class - £5.65 (Then your box and packing on top)

1 x Baseball Cap - £5.65 (Plus your packaging)unless you squash it flat as a pancake.

so minimum realist price now for a mug posted will be £11 - not such a cheap fun item now.

Just shows RM is getting prices up ready for the sell off so that the difference between Royal Mail and courier services isnt vast.

I wish I could put my prices up as easily

Need this like a hole in the head!!

Assuming the above is correct then I can see the Mothers day/Personalised/Valentines/one off etc mug business by post is dead in the water............thanks for nothing Post Office.

Prices have been released for a while now!
1 mug will be £3.00 - not £5.65 - there is an exception to the rule on small parcels - not sure if a poly box will fit but cardboard box, with mug, definitely does.

There is already a long thread with this info on.

Price list for anyone that is interested HERE

exceptions are 16x16x16 cm box and some postal tubes

Although we are lucky because they only made the exceptions at the last minute due to complaints from the proposal

Still a bugger for things like bags and teddys though :(

Does the Royal Mail website have that information publicly available? I couldn't see it today when our franking machine got updated. It's likely that postal services will now be severely reduced from April 2nd from us in preference of courier services.

thanks for that John G................

if i,m reading that right - parcels up to 1kg - is that £2.60 for a mug in box for 2nd class ? £3.00 for first ?

so 40p hike on 2nd class post and 30p on first

Yes, that's correct - and if its the right size box you may be able to send 2 mugs for the same price.
