im starting to get my head around windows 8 now but one thing that is doing my head is when im on a web site for instance lets say this forum, everytime the word printer or ink or lots of other words they link to a advert, the words are highlighted in blue and if the mouse passes over them then up pops a pop up window advertising say a ipad etc,.....DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO STOP THIS OR CHANGE IT IN ANY SETTINGS?

I shouldn't say this because DSF probably makes money from them, but I use Ad Block plus. It's free and it blocks ads.
I'm learning. So I'm probably spouting rubbish. Be patient

Another example is the post above where you have written "makes money" its written in light blue and a ad pops up when I put mouse near it, ive never had this before on any windows surely I can turn it off somewhere.

I had this on my laptop, but it was caused by a virus. Had to do a restore and virus check purge, which to rid of it

yep you have a little bug on your pc, malawarebytes, should find it and stop it, and spybot, both free to use, it comes on a little tool bar that gets loaded on, son picked it up on his pc, even on ebay, it kept opening up little boxes of things it thought you might like also try using your view-toolbar-options button it might be there

MalwareBytes is free to use as a malware scanner but I'd recommend paying the £20 (depending on exchange rate) for a lifetime subscription.
It'll then scan your pc in realtime.

Excellent program. I wish they'd do an anti-virus program too.
