Had three customers send in orders late Thursday afternoon.

One needs 864 mugs across two designs
One needs 504 mugs and 1500 keyrings
One needs 2000 keyrings

All need to be delivered to three desinations (thankfully all in London) on MONDAY morning!

Might have to work an hour or two over the weekend then

And a massive nod to Scott at BMS who turned out an order for me with seconds to spare.

What do you use for the keyrings? (hopefully not sublimating as this would be very, very time consuming)

I get them from Intaprint UK (http://www.intaprintuk.com/ 01246 269595) Great service and price. They are used as official merchandise on pop concerts/tours and never had any complaints although being in the industry I can see they are cheap!

I use the C6 which on 2000 are 13p each plus delivery which is free on telephone orders over £100.00. Give Sharaon a call and tell her Simon from Soundscreen sent you and she will look after you.

They have loads of other acryllic products like fridge magnets etc etc but I do not sell them as I hate having lots of different stock.

As for the inserts, sometimes I use the laser print (£99.00 from comet) or sometimes I use the Koday Ink Jet, it depends on which one has the most ink/toner in it! I grab the cheapest paper I can find and print 25 on a sheet then cut 10 or so sheets at a time.

you can normally do 200 an hour watching rubbish on TV or 400 if you are actually concentrating!!!

I also do keyrings and was just wondering if I had missed a trick with producing them - and so many!

You mentioned that you cut them out 10 sheets at a time. Not sure what method you use for cutting but I used to use a cutting knife and straight edged ruler - but after slicing my thumb down to the bone a few months ago I had second thoughts about it.

I happened to mention it to a guy that works in a local photo shop and he have me something that I wouldn't be without now.

I mainly do passport size keyrings (35mm by 45mm) and this is a little handheld passport photo cutter that cuts them out great. I just put a few mm's bleed on each image and then chop away.

Intaprint do sell them for their keyring inserts also, the only problem I have with them is that they only cut one at a time. I use a scalpal and a straight edge and have cut myself hundreds of times but nothing serious fortunately. I originally trained as a paste-up artist on Newspapers many years ago and using a scalpal is something that I am used to and happy with.

Plus as an example, I have just cut out the keyrings for Cheryl Cole. 1500 took me 15 minutes I suppose. Out of interest how long would 1500 take with one of those cutters?

ummm - not sure really but it literally only takes about 1-2 secs to snip them so lets presume 2 seconds

1,500 x 2 seconds = 3,000 seconds
divided by 60 to give minutes = 50 minutes - non stop that is so allow 10 minutes for rest and recuperation and picking up the next sheet gives you about an hour

You did it in 15 minutes!

Can't touch that one! - can I mail you my keyrings for you to cut out? (lol)

Can you get 25 on an A4 sheet also?

I know you had your thumb cut but if you follow some simple steps that should never happen again.

Firstly always use a sharp blade. I tend to go through 1 blade every 30 or so pages. Always use a ruler with no nicks in it. Some people only use steel but I find that there is more friction and subsequently more rigidity with plastic on laser printed sheets. I buy a batch of them from Intaprint and when I get a nick it goes in the bin and a new one comes out. Make sure you have a good quality cutting mat and the worst laser paper you can find. The rougher the paper the better it holds together.

Failing all of the above, make sure you have 999 on VOICE ACTIVATED speed dial LOL

Having said all the above, I have often thought about purchasing one of those cutters for orders less than 50 as I do think they are really easy and a lot safer.
