installing ICC profiles
Re: installing ICC profiles
Hi all,
I'm trying to install the ICC profile for my printer (Epson PX660) and not having much luck with it!
Has anyone been able to do this in a Vista system?
After downloading the Artainium UV+ 1400 file, it says install when you right click on it, having done so it is supposed to say un-install if it had been loaded, which it doesn't, it just say install again so I'm assuming that it has not worked.
When I try to print the colours are still way off!
Anyone got any ideas I might be able to try?
regards
Tony

What software are you using? Does the profile show up in your software setup screen? You can also check the profiles folder, not sure on Vista but on other Windows its system32/spool/drivers/colour.

Re: installing ICC profiles
The other thing to note is that the colours when printed on a dye sub sheet will be way out.
Its only once you have transferred the image to the physical item do you get a good idea on the colours.
(sorry if you already know this but thought I would mention it).

The PX660 and the Photo 1400 aren't the same so there is no reason to think that the profile would work anyway.TonyMast;51011 wrote:Hi all,

All that happens when you right click on the profile fiel and 'install' it is that is gets copied to a windows directory - that's all. You then need to configure your software and the printer driver to ensure that this is then used correctly. Detailed instructions for various versions of Photoshop and CorelDraw are available from Sawgrass, but even if this is installed correctly given the printers are different there is no guarantee that the profile will give you correct colours.

I mainly use Serif DTP, but also have Photoshop 7 which I tend not to use. The Serif software can not show the profile to be changed like Photoshop does but is a good piece of software and much easier to use, for me anyway.
The problem I'm having is getting the profile recognised or used if that is what is supposed to happen. The ink supplier told me once it's in the download folder, I need to right click on it and it should automatically install, but it doesn't.
Can I just transfer it to the profile folder and it will work, or does it need to install?
Thanks for that social giraffe, I am only just getting to understand the whole process and didn't know that bit of info, having said that I have done a test print and there is not a lot of difference once it's printed from the colours in the paper.

I think you're going to have to use Photoshop and there are 2 things you need to do - (1) configure PS7 and (2) configure your driver. Both are explained with screen shots in the technical support section of the Sawgrass website. Once this is done though your colours may still not be correct due to a profile being used for a different printer and you may need to get a custom profile made.TonyMast;51017 wrote:Hi Justin,

Thanks for that Martin.
So where would I go and get a profile made, and how much is it lightly to cost?
