Re: Flexible Fridge Magnet Problems

Post by AdamB »

Hi all,

I got some flexible fridge magnets from CGraph a while ago (I won't add a link as I'm sure you'll know what I mean if you've had them).

Anyway, the website doesn't give any time/temp/pressure reccomendations so I've just been guessing and up to now I've had melted magnets, splitting magents, no transfer and melting and more.

I've wasted about 5 of them and to be honest with the variations I've used below I can't see how they can be pressed - has anyone had a succesful print with these before?

Used up to now:

1. Pressed at 190 for 55 seconds - good transfer but magnet split and melted on front and rear
2. Pressed at 170 for 35 seconds - only slightly transfered but starting to bubble on rear
3. Pressed at 180 for 20 seconds - slightly better transfer but bubbling/melting on front and rear.
4. Pressed at 190 for 40 seconds - better transfer (not as good as 1st one) but magnet split and melted on front and rear
5. Pressed at 185 for 35 seconds - good transfer (not as good as 1st and 4th one) but magnet split and melted on front and rear

So - not much luck!

Anyone used these?

Hi Adam!
I had them and still got some. I must say this is on my "most useless blanks" list.
I, Like you tried few different times and temps and each time magnet had some wrinkles or image was pants. :(

Did you not speak to Henry about them Paul or mention anything on here about them?

I've sent him and email about them but if there's a product that "doesn't do the job" I might have avoided buying in so many!

I'm not blaming CGraph (at this point) though because 'if' no one has told them - they won't know?

Hi Adam I bought some of these off CG a while back and never used them as I'm doing a new web site I thought I'd do one and add it to my site today and I'm getting the same results as you.

It's shockin Reg to be honest - at first I thought it was me but I used that many 'variations' that I can say (unless someone knows different) that this product CAN NOT BE SUBLIMATED?

I'd like someone to prove me wrong though - and I await a response from CGraph!

I had a reply back from CGraph and they said this:
Hello Adam

The fridge magnet only takes a few seconds to press ,please check the following video it show the process ,the magnet on the video exactly same as we sell ,if purchased a ceramic magnet from one of our oldest stock it the process are different
First thing is, I cannot understand the video :(

Also, I watched the video and allthough you can see the temp at about 185 there is a cut in the video when it's being pressed so the time of pressing is not confirmed.

And finally, it shows the magnet being pressed at the end to presumably get out the bubbles after pressing - this isn't mentioned on their website and you can quite clearly see there is bubbles on the product even after he has done this.

I've re-emailed them to see what they say?

Just had another message - I'll try one now and see if this works?
Hello Adam

Sorry of the message was confusing

The time are between 8-15 seconds depend on the press you use (only a few seconds ),the temperature shows on the press ,we suggest to use a thicker paper like trupix our 108GSM paper we have in stock are too thin

It is 185Celsius not Fahrenheit

Please watch the video and follow the video instructions and use the extra papers to avoid the magnets being baked,on this video you see the same fridge magnet you purchased from us being pressed

Just tried another one @175c for 10 sec hardly any ink transferred so I gave it a further 15 sec still not transferring so I did a further 15 sec's then squeegee it it's still got bubbles and the print is not as vibrant as I would like.
