Re: Alphabet Cutting Request

Post by pisquee »

For a new project we have planned, we are needing some letters cut out for us, as we haven't invested in the plotter/cutter yet.
What we will need is 5-10 of each letter A4 sized cut out on card.
We will supply the font wanted, and once cut, you post them to us.

So 26 A4 sized letters, times 5 = 130,
10x 26 =260

If you can PM me prices, or ask further questions, if what I am asking is unclear.

Thanks

Tim

PS - if anyone is able to do the same thing in a thin metal sheet (aluminium?) then please also get in touch!

You are not getting many offers because no one wants to blunt their blades on paper or card.
I think you need a different pitch blade and a carrier so most vinyl cutters help either.
I used to do a few stencils for artists but it was bad on blades to.

How much is an appropriate blade, and how quick would paper/card use it up?

Don't mind what they are cut with I suppose.
Not sure exactly how my wife plans to use them though.
I think she wants to use them as a stencil to draw around to then paint
But, she may want to paint them with sublimation paints and put them through the heat press

Will find out.

Being pessimistic you could use up to 5 blades. Seriously, card/paper blunts blades very quickly but you could get away with 3.
Each blade costs around 15€. But you are also asking someone to put extra strain on their plotter that is not designed for relatively thick and lumpy, bumpy material. Card/paper is not smooth , it is all grainy and will deflect the blade. A blade holder will cost upwards of 60 pounds if that is bent.
Maybe you could find someone who could "plot" the outline of each number with a pencil and then you cut them out with a knife. Maybe the person who can do it in Aluminum can do it card as well.
Sorry, Im being Mr Pessimistic,
Earl

why not just order a craft robo, so many people use them for only cutting paper/card which is why they are the No1 craft cutter

We are planning on getting a plotter/cutter, but wanted to explore outsourcing this job in the meantime. The craft robo is too small for our needs, so we'd be looking for something bigger.
Thanks for all the advice so far, is a good way of learning.

hmm, i just thought for something more craft orientated like this the craft would be ideal, then even with your bigger cutter bought you would still have one for cutting card etc for future projects

I have 2 craft robo's and would be willing to have a go, but I must advise I don't think it would cheap, ordering the card the cost of blades and at least 2 carrier sheets and my time for doing it. In such a situation you are free to PM me with a amount you would be willing to pay and we could take it from there, the reason I'm requesting the reverse quote thing is that I don't have a clue on what to quote for such a job.
