If you tell your domestic insurers, they might go balistic.......
If you tell the local authority, they might start charging you business rates for the space you occupy........
If the Inland Revenue know you work from home and your house goes up in value you might be charged a proportion of capital gains.
If you tell your mortgage company then you might be in breach of the terms of your loan.
If you hurt somone (else), you should have product liability insurance.
..... none of the 100,000+ garments I have printed over the years have ever hurt anyone or generated cause for a claim.
How compliacted do you want to make life?

I have a unit so have to have insurance, but if you're working from home, I'd tend to agree with logobear - I don't think there is any need.

where i would disagree with logobear, is your responsibility to tell the local authority - if you are working from home - ie self employed you have a duty to inform them, as you will be claiming part of your house/workshop back as your outgoings, if you have a mortgage you also should inform them that you are using part of (their) building for commercial reasons, if you have not taken advice of a small business forum or link then you should, as it will put you straight.

if you are running a hobby ie in addition to your normal income, then things are a little different, liability insurance really only comes into play if you are in direct contact with your customers, or a product you have made - causes an accident and a claim is made against you. for those of us that have premisis and do it as a full time business we have to have liability insurance
