Re: barcode for amazon .co.uk
It's against Amazon's rules to sell anything hand made (not sure if sublimation items come under this or not) - see here: http://www.amazonsellercommunity.com/fo ... dID=180658
There are many 'getting away with it' at the moment by listing them in the everything else category...but there are also a lot being pulled off recently too. Whether simply purchasing a barcode makes your items 'commercially authorized' I'm not sure, someone will probably be along soon that knows more about it

Re: barcode for amazon .co.uk
I wouldn't class printed mugs as handmade - there's plenty selling mugs on Amazon without a problem.
Re: barcode for amazon .co.uk
I wouldn't class them as home made either but you can never be so sure these days, there are plenty of people selling subli mugs on etsy too which puts the argument in the other corner - etsy is for hand made items only... I was just pointing out this is a grey area and there are some risks in going down this path.
I personally know somebody that had there items removed from Amazon for that very reason only 3 weeks ago. They were sublimation photo goods too, just not mugs. The email they sent to explain didn't actually say 'handmade' items, they said "All items offered for sale must be commercially produced and authorized or licensed for sale as a retail product". I was just pointing out that even if you go to all the expense of purchasing barcodes, you may still get pulled off in the end. Just because people are doing it with no problem doesn't mean they won't come up against a problem in the end, after all there are people selling Justin Bieber, JLS, Disney, Nick Toons etc on sublimation items on ebay with no problems...that doesn't mean it's fine to do so just because they haven't come across any problems yet.
But as John G has pointed out it's open to interpretation, go for it if you feel it's worth it

Re: barcode for amazon .co.uk
I was looking at selling on amazon myself the other day all the forums i checked say you dont need a barcode
on the point of a mug being hand made , manufactured etc it is open to interpritation as all things are but ask yourself this tesco produce photo mugs are they classed as hand made, jessops produce photo mugs are they hand made?? again its just another mine field for us to plough through, Im guessing and its just a guess but personalised items are not covered by distance selling regs in the same way as other items ie if you buy a tonka toy for little jonny (showing my age now) and when it turns up you dont like it you can return it regardless of if its in perfect condition but if you produce a mug with little jonnys name on well that can only be returned if theres a fault or if it wasnt printed exactly as requested you can not return an item simply because you dont like it if its personalised or custom built, I wonder if amazon are a bit nervous of this part of the distance selling regs
