CISS Issue's :(

Hiya everyone, i have a B1100 that at times has given me issues, the latest one being whilst doing a run after the third A4 page printed it just stopped putting ink down on the paper, i noticed there was air in the line so i tried to reprime using the instruction's kindly provided by BMS. I inserted the needle in the bung and it was rock solid, i can pull up but it just suck's it back down again, i get the tiniest bit of ink and it's all foamy. I looked again at the instructions and it said to disconnect at the small round connectors on the pipe to check the reservoirs werent blocked, the reservoirs let ink out fine.

I feel a right idiot as i keep bugging the kind people at BMS whenever i get a issue, is there something im doing wrong, i never leave the printer for any length of time, i always make sure the ink's are at the right height, is it just a hardware issue??? I was contemplating buying empty cartridge's and just filling up manually with the ink i have left, going to ring BMS later but am i barking up the wrong tree, should i just give up and change the printer (really dont have the cash to do this right now), im kinda stuck as i have a order of vis vests to do and the customer is getting a bit pushy now

Any advice would be kindly received.

I used to have a R1800 with CISS and gave up and now have a B1100 with self fill carts, easy to use and have had no problems. Carts cheap to buy as well.

Ive just put the original cartridges back in as last time it went wrong BMS told me to do this, im getting poor nozzle check on the 1st black channel and magenta

It's a superb printer when it's working, i love it, but im just concerned now about the ink's

I had a similar issue with the EasyFlow CISSs on my Epson 1400s. The solution was to remove the bung on the reservoir for the colour that keeps "not printing". That seemed to solve the problem 9 times out of 10.

These days I have switched to refillable cartridges but they're just too small to hold enough ink and swapping them out just leads to worse problems, so I reserve my 1400s for just printing larger items. For smaller items I use Brother printers with larger ink tanks. Not entirely problem free but, once printing, there's no problem.

Cool, ive had a bit of a run around this morning but finally Epson are sending a courier out with a new one and if they cant fix mine then they will swap for a new one Might have issues with the cart's still so if i have might see if i can go down the refillable cart's route.

did you tald them you used sublimation inks with this printer?

Paul makes a good point. If Epson discover that ink isn't flowing because of a CISS or third party ink, neither of which they recommend, then they aren't going to fix it for free nor will they want to give you a new one.

Why did you contact Epson anyway? Your sales contract is with the supplier/reseller who sold you the printer in the first place. Epson are not obliged to help you unless you bought the printer direct from them. By going direct to Epson, you leave yourself vulnerable because Epson aren't obliged to help and the reseller can avoid their responsibilities.

I was told to take it to a Epson service centre which i did, who then told me to call the Epson contact centre.

They guy who came out was brilliant , i had the original cart's in which i was told to do.

They guy said to me if ever i used CISS or compatible ink's just make sure there not around when a engineer visit's.

Did i do wrong contacting Epson then??? Printer's working fine now, am contemplating using refillable cart's though.

looks like youhave done right thing and also you was lucky you had a great guy coming to pick it up some people would be funny about this and they would have rights to refuse to take it to the service station for epon. but well done!

We're always being told that your contract is with the company you bought the item from - not the manufacturer. The seller can suggest going to the manufacturer if they think it might be quicker, but you're under no obligation to do so. You can tell the seller to sort it out because they're the one's obligated to do so.

It's different if you caused the fault, of course, but if the fault is in the equipment then it's usually best to deal with the people you bought from because the manufacturer is not obligated to do anything to help, unless the manufacturer is the seller.

If it works out for you this time then no worries, but it is just worth remembering for the future.
