Re: Paypal...Payment etc...

Post by Lee »

Mornimg....I've been looking into the prestashop offer, but I think for the time being it's a whole new thing to learn, that will take up too much time whilst I'm trying to get everything else off the ground.....

I am familiar with other web editing software, so may look (for now) at putting together a templated site....but regarding the payment side of things, I have some questions about paypal....

1. How eay is it to use?
2. Do I have to register / change my status with paypal to business customer?
3. I like this shopping cart etc on a site I found on this forum - http://4fansdesign.co.uk/
4. Are fees higher / different?
5. Is there any alternatives?
6. Anything else I should know?

Soz for the questions, but I've only ever used paypal to pay/receive money via ebay before...

Thanks in advance!

1 It's very easy, but it depends if you're web host has it built in or if you need to manually input the HTML code for each item to your site
2 It's best to do this before they ask you to, you don't need to have a business bank account for business status on paypal
3
4 Fees are the same, unless you qualify for a merchant account, then they are slightly lower
5 Google checkout or your own merchant terminal for receiving and processing credit/debit cards, but you can only get one of those if you have a business bank account, and most if not all banks charhe for one of these
6 Probably, lol, but can't think right now

hi TPM,
As I'm a designer of mentioned by you 4fansdesign.co.uk shop, I can help you and everyone else who wants to know how does it work.
FIRST AT ALL - DON'T HAVE TO UPGRADE YOUR PAYPAL ACCOUNT TO BUSINESS !!!
Premier account is absolutely enough and allows you to accept credit/debit cards on your website the same like business. So what's the difference ??
Business account is coming with very helpful tools, including on-site shopping cart but they are paid for !!! But you can use own, free shopping cart (like one on my website).
It is also legal and right with paypal to use Premier account as for business purposes.
If anyone interested how to implement paypal + shopping cart on your website, I can write quick tutorial but it's really easy.... as seen on 4fansdesign.co.uk :-P

go compare :P
https://www.paypal-business.co.uk/accep ... 055-8030-0

not much though I would suspect more fees for other additional services

"Accept credit and debit card payments on your own website" - you still can accept them on "Website Payment Standard" but all operation is processed on Paypal site, not your website directly
