Dishwasher Temperatures and cracked mugs
Re: Dishwasher Temperatures and cracked mugs
Hi all,
I did 2, paid for, sample mugs last week for what could have been a large repeat order but just had an email from the customer saying that one of the mugs has cracked in the dishwasher.
Mugs used for samples - BMS B grade - I haven't seen the damage so am waiting for her to pop into the unit. I have never had any comebacks from the B grade mugs and am not blaming them - Just need a few questions answered which you all may be able to help me with.
1. What kind of temperatures does a dishwasher go to
2. Do you think its possible for a mug to crack in the dishwasher
3. Has anyone on the forum ever had this happen to them or received a complaint, like this one, from their customers.
Look forward to hearing your replies;
Cheers John

Re: Dishwasher Temperatures and cracked mugs
1. 55-75c degrees most dishwashers max unless commercial - drying can go a bit hotter
2. yes its possible, but only if underlying hairline crack around handle perhaps ?
3. i had one break on me last year from a sample batch from listawood, but it was the handle which broke off, i presumed it had been damaged in transit and the heat from the drying cycle was the final straw

Thanks for that - still waiting to see the damaged mug. Its typical, you do hundreds of one off personalised mugs no problem and the one that might lead to a large order cracks in the customers bloody dishwasher.

I've done another one and emailed her to pop in a drop the cracked one off. I think your right, i'll do a spare and give it to someone else to put through their dishwasher. Sods law isn't it :rolleyes:

Re: Dishwasher Temperatures and cracked mugs
Hi Paul, no I didn't dunk - took paper off immediately and had a fan blowing cool air onto it. Do this on all my mugs and never had a problem before - I still haven't seen the mug yet.
