Re: Sticky Backed Vinyl

I was thinking about doing some small vinyl signs but me being me gave up on the idea so I have 5 rolls of vinyl up for grabs, each roll is 610mm x 8 meters and the colours are: royal blue, dark blue, yellow, red and white, 40 meters in total. I have no idea of the quality of this vinyl, I would be asking £30 + £10 postage for the lot or I would be happy to swap for some T shirt vinyl/flock or some coloured cotton T's

I need a bulk lot of any colour vinyl for a class project. This sounds ideal.

Hi Bob
Dont know what you mean by PM'd you. The vinyl sounds good. Only noticed after I posted that this was over a year ago! Probably not got it any more any way! I will have to keep looking. Only trouble is my class is needing it!

Just found out what PM means! I am such a novice at these forums. I need to know if the vinyl is sticky backed and if it is quite sticky? I am using it for a screen printing project in my art dept. It needs to stick quite well. The students will be cutting quite intricate stencils and sticking them onto the silk screens. Do you think it will be suitable?

All depends what type of screen ink you're going to use. Polyplast and the vinyl stencil will melt and end up looking like a swimming cap.

If you're doing garments, and using texopaque, or similar plastisol ink, you'll get away with it for very small runs. I would have thought there would be something better than vinyl - back in the day we used a film which could be cut and applied to the screen with water, cannot remember the name though!
