Re: MDP Mug Press set up help please!

Hi everyone,
I asked in here a short while ago about mug press recommendations and decided to get the touch screen mug press recommended by a few people. It's arrived today and I'm just setting it up. It came with the mug element and I have mugs from MDP here too. The press seems very difficult to open and close so I have loosened the pressure. I tried a mug in there (before switching it on) and when I closed the press, the mug handle popped off
I've loosened it a bit more! That mug can now be my sacrificial mug for me to put in there when it is heating up! Don't think I can loosen it much more as the nut is now right at the end of the pressure screw. Is this normal? How do I know when I've got the right pressure? I'm guessing handles flying off is not a good thing!
I had an old style Freesub press before and used to do mugs for 180 secs at 180 degrees. I'm guessing this is the same on this press? Also, does anyone know how close I'll be able to get to the handle without fading?
Thanks in advance, Gem
