Another versaworks issue.

I have been having issues with too much black ink on prints where its raised almost 3d.
I have lowered the black ink in the colour adjustment down to the bottom almost and it's still the same almost as if the slider does nothing?

Any ideas would be great.
not only is it wasting ink but also taking a dogs age to dry.

Are you sure the colour is 100% RGB Black? If it's very dark green for example, it will be applying loads of coloured ink.

I don't know what you are trying to print onto, but have you tried different paper with better absorption?

It could well be the media setting is cooked....

Perhaps try it on the following:

GENERIC VINYL 1
HIGH SPEED

If that works then have a play with a few different media settings until you find one that is best suited.

Yes checked that. It’s vinyl and it’s always done it no matter what media I use except for banners oddly it’s fine on banners.

the bn 20 has three settings I forget the 1st as I never use it but then it’s draft 1 and draft 2 I think.

I print on the medium draft to get a better result as the lowest draft leaves the inks almost see through.

I will have a play with the media settings and see if that works.

Profiles are mega important for printing on vinyl

Are you using the correct one for the brand of vinyl you are using?

(I'm assuming you can add profiles for the BN20 through Versaworks - if so your vinyl supplier should be able to get correct profiles for you)

No profiles available apparently.
I have used a few different ones from detape on mdp and polyprint on xpres but when I have asked they have both told me there is no profile available and just to use default.

What I have done that seems to work is print on draft 2 but increase the colours up by two notches each.

Also, have you cleaned the sensor strip?

It could be some dirt or foreign material that is affecting the print.

Personally I would be surprised if it was this, but well worth a try

I don't know if it's a BN20 thing but it might be worth speaking to the likes of Amari Plastics or the like to see if they have profiles for 3M, Oracle or Avery etc
