Re: Advice on sublimating MDF and heat presses

Hi,

I'm looking for be able to sublimation full colour images onto MDF/hardboard sheets - About A3 size. I'm concerned about the print coming out patchy/uneven quality, so a couple of questions...

- What brand/model of heat press would people recommend getting for this?

- Does anyone have experience of these large-format full image prints onto such surfaces and what advice would you give for consistant good-quality results?

Many thanks!

You'd need some decent PPE if you're planning on doing this a lot. MDF gives off toxic formaldehyde fumes I believe.

Yes (as above) and you're find they bend when heated so you will to find a way to weigh them down flat for at least 24 hours. In reality sublimation is probably not the right print process for your needs.
