Diamonds on t's??
Re: Diamonds on t's??
Hi and thanks for all the help on my last post. Just the printer to go now which I will be buying from BMS.
I know this is a dye sub forum but does anyone know how to put diamonds on t's?
What equipment is needed to do it and what's the process? Is it hard to do and what's the quality like?
Thanks
Dan

I think you may mean rhinestones Dan.
If you use diamonds you'd need a security guard to escort you to the Post Office.

You could do your own with various software, the right cutter and lots of patience. If you want to dip your toe in the water some companies sell ready made stuff. Take a look at The Transfer Press website

True DREAMGLASS lol. it's my daughters birthday today and someone has bought her an iron-on diamond design. It's just got my money making mind going. I think they would work well with my route to market that I already use for my business.
I will have a look on the Transfer Press website now. I really want to now how it's done.

Don't want to put a downer on this system but my kids are always buying t'shirts with these on and after a few washes you can guarantee some of the rhinestones have fallen off - makes the shirt look pants.
Printwise they look fantastic when done properly - loads of youtube videos to watch if your going down this line.

Re: Diamonds on t's??
I used to press my own rhinestone designs. Got a local company that specialises in this sort of transfer to make them up. Not much use for one offs but I could buy 10/20 at a go for a decent price, wasn't worth setting up making them myself. I just sent over an image and the company turned it into a design for me.
Quality wise, as long as you make sure all the stones have adhered ok (occasionally one or two will be upside down and need turning) you should be fine. I never had any reports of stones falling off, in fact the missus has some of my designs herself and these have been washed many times over the years.

So what's the basic equipment needed? Just been looking on YouTube and they seem to be some big machines. Is there a more basic way?
Re: Diamonds on t's??
If you already have a cutter, you will have the basic equipment. You will need to buy a software which turns an outline into a series of dots (can be done with Corel Draw & a macro plug-in), stencil material (i.e. stoneblast vinyl), hot fix rhinestones, and transfer tape.
Have a look at T-shirt Forums they have a section dedicated to Rhinestone Printing.

The Craft ROBO will do the dotted line cut from the standard software provided.
