Hi All,
I am looking for some advise help. I am new to the vinyl world. I own a heatpress. a Cricut maker cutting machine and just got a sublimation printer.
I have a couple of projects i want to do. 1 being some hoodies using a single colour Vinyl which is fine. However my second project is causing me a lot of confusion on the best method to reproduce the prduct.

I have some font that i want to use for a local U16s team which has a primary colour which a coloured border (v similar to PL font)
i have the file for cricut design maker. but im confused on the processs
do i print font design onto sublimination paper then heat press onto the vinyl then cut? or do i just get HTV and use design maker to print and cut directly? however i struggled to find printable HTV that i can use sub ink to print onto . its all "paper" that uses normal inkjet and feel cheaper.

i have attached some photo of the example of the font.
Note when i peel it up the underside is sticky

any advise on the process to reproduce these would be appreciated

For a two colour you would layer the vinyl if you don’t have access to ecosolvent printer.
Sublimating vinyl isn’t any good it’s awful.

Cut the outline and centre of the fonts and layer.
Not the best way to do it but it will work. (You will get shrinkage of the vinyl)

when you say ecosolvent printer do you mean using the sub inks? as i have an epson Inktank and have got the sublimation inks for it (rather than the regular inkjet ink for paper) the font i have doesnt feel like its been layered

Ecosolvent printers are normally 24”+ roll fed printers i have a Roland bn20 as do many others here This is pretty much the only way your going to accomplish what your after I’m afraid.
There is uv printing or latex printing too but that’s another ball game altogether.

Sublimation is different it is usually done on hard substrates like mugs etc or onto T-shirt’s or other polyester fabrics.

Sublimating onto vinyl is possible with a special vinyl but it’s rubbish and won’t give you the results your after.

If the underside is sticky then it sounds as though you have used SIGN VINYL and not HTV.

To achieve the reult you want using HTV you can layer the white on top of the black+outlne, or you can cut the black outline only and position the white inside it.

Personally, to avoid misalignment due to stretching of the fabric, I would use the first method ...

1, Cut the black+outline.

2. Cut the white (no outline).

3. Tack the black onto the fabric by pressing for about 5 seconds.

4. Overlay the white on the black and press or the full recommended time.

Here's a tester I did a while ago. The light-blue 'Beachcomber' text is one layer on top of another black one. After pressing, the hand still feels very soft and flexible and adherence is good. (I used HotFlex vinyl from MDP).
