Hip Flask Sublimation

Hi all,

A question that might apply to many other mediums as well.

Can you do multiple heat cycles on a surface?

My problem is that I tried sublimating a hip flask, but it came out completely over cooked based on the manufacturers recommended settings. At nearly £6 a pop I can't afford to use trial and error to get it bang on.

So could I do a small test piece in the top corner, cook it, see how it comes out and then repeat the cycle in the other corner? Or is the sublimation surface cured once it's completed a heat cycle?

I found with mugs anyway once pressed you can’t repress.
The colours just gassed out and blurred the images.

I added a colour chart to one side and then pressed a different test pattern to the other and the first image was blurred.

It may not be the same with flasks but I would imagine the principal is the same and you end up making a mess.

Hey, I don't think I was clear enough, my bad.

So the quality of the original image wouldn't be relevant if that makes sense. As it would be a case of just using the same substrate to perfect timings/temps. I just wondered if the surface still accepted sublimation once it had been through a heat cycle.

Reading between the lines I think it would be ok as you mentioned your second image was fine and it was just the first image that gassed out.
