Shadow on mug

Hi again.
I've looked on other people's threads and I notice some cook their mugs in the halogen for 12 mins at 180-200°c . So I've given it a whirl and after cooking put the mug in warm water to cool it down and remove the paper, I've also done that.
I've now inspected the mug and noticed a shadow/highlight of where the paper was and I'm confused as to why that would happen.

I had been previously cooking for 9mins at the same temperature with no problems and not dunking the mug , letting it cool on its own but removing the printed sub paper immediately after taking out of the oven.
I tried the 12 min method after a user on this app told me 9 mins was far to short and 12-13 mins was the right amount of time.
The print does look good I can't complain but obviously I have a unsalable mug now.

So if anyone has an idea as to why I got this outcome the information would be appreciated.

Take the paper off the mug as soon as you remove it.
I always remove the paper before dunking I found the paper sticks to the mug and needs cleaning off as it leaves a residue otherwise.

Which silicone wraps are you using? What size of mug? I've had something similar to what you are describing when using wraps mainly intended for 11oz mugs on 10oz mugs.

Try placing heat tape along the full length of the ends of your transfer that are nearest the mug handle to stop any gassing out.

Hi webtekker, I'm using the silicone wraps from eBay / Amazon and using 11oz mugs .
Not had a problem with the 9 minute 180/200°c way .
I'll tape the edges up fully next time and see if that helps. Other than that it'll be back to 9 mins and not dunking.

I used to cook mine (single mug) for 9 minutes @ 180/200 for best results from my halogen oven. Print was great whether dunked or not.

Anything less than 9 minutes left a faded area directly opposite the handle.
