Re: Advice on buying new A3 Sublimation printer needed?

Post by fluffyflumprach »

Hi all,

I've currently got an A3 Epson B1100 converted with CISS system, had it 7 years and it just doesn't want to print black properly anymore.
Looking for a new A3 Sublimation printer, run two Etsy shops so print pretty much every day normally. Really looking for the best value and consistent printer ( not having to do endless printer head cleaning!!) if anyone can advise?
Also got a load of ink left so should I stick to another Epson or can it be used with other types of printer?

Many thanks in advance!

B1100 was an awful printer, noisy and slow, don't get another :-) What inks do you have?

Ricoh printers will give you good service but several Epsons recently become available which wil be of interest.

Hi yes I agree, won't be getting another one!
Inks are just called premium inks and are Epson compatible, got them from a dye sub shop on Ebay.
I've seen an A3 Epson Ecotank ET 14000.. do you know if that's any good? And easy enough to set up? I like the idea of not having to deal with the CISS system as a right faff when it goes wrong :)

Your best bet would be to get a package, printer and inks together. You can then get a specifi profile to work with the machine which you will need. it's important to ensure your ink supply is consistent.

Eco tanks are sooooo much better. We have an L850 (based on old P5) which is A4 and they also now do the A3 version based off the old 1500 which is also excellent. If I remeber correctly the ET14000 is only a 4 colour, 6 is far better even at this level. I'm not sure but that might even be the new version of the B1100 :-( I could be wrong.

Great ok that's very helpful thank you, definitely going to go for an Eco tank. Don't suppose you can recommend who is best to buy from?
