Forum 'characteristics'?

Why is it that this forum marks threads as unread if you're the one that posted something? The old forum didn't do this.

Why do I have to go into a thread twice to remove the coloured box that says there is an unread post yet when I click through there is no new part and only then does the colour of the thread notification change?

This happens on various computers/ laptops/ iPhone so there must be something I'm doing or is it a 'characteristic' of this platform?

OK, I've made a change to the way in which threads are marked as read and this should cure the problem.
