Sublimating to umbrellas

I’m looking to sublimate umbrellas for promotional use just a simple logo and some contact details
black text on a white umbrella.

Anyone sublimate to umbrellas and any tips?
im not sure about time temps or how I’m going to even get them on the press!

I have done these before. I think the BMS website has times and temps as that is where I got them from. Most suppliers who sell them give a guidance for times and temps. Also it does depend on your set up.

Don't melt the ribs in the press - some of them are plastic. If you haven't got an umbrella platen then get a sheet of p[laten rubber and cut to shape. Hold it in place on your platen with heatproof tape.

Umbrella fabric is fairly translucent, so your blacks need to be as black as possible.

Ive just printed 26 brollies. You cannot do them on your own. You need someone to hold the brolly in place to hold the ribs down away from the heat. Tape the design securely in place too as it will move.

I as have the small changeable platen (15x15) , ideal for this job...

For epson printers they take about 45s at 190c. You could do with a cut insert to go underneath the panel such as a spare heat mat from press or oversized mousemat. Ribs should fit either side of this. A big part is in the positioning of the press so the handle of umbrella can fit below easy whilst the panel to be printed can get flat on platen. One of the downsides used to be the full heat platen shape would be seen on the material after but the cut out rubber helps this a fair bit. You can even round off the corners a little of the rubber to soften it further.

Where can I get a spare heat mat from?
ebay have something similar but at £20 I don’t want to waste the money on something incorrect.
