silicon wraps

Hi all

Just a thought, I sub my mugs using a halogen and have tried the green wraps which seem to work fine apart from the odd one that springs open during cooking.

I have never tried the red ones.

But while I was waiting tonight for my last batch to cook, I had been noticing that once the wrap ist taken off you can see (to a certain extent) how the print has subbed itself to the mug.

So my question is this: is there such a thing as clear silicon wraps which could help positioning and also cooking times.?

Not that I've seen, but could be good for you to find a manufacturer on AliBaba and ask them if it's possible

Sorry if I'm just having a senior moment here, but what do you mean by clear wraps 'could help positioning?' Do you not tape down your transfers to keep them positioned?

Or do you mean that the wrap colour is getting on the mug? We always cut a strip of silicone paper the same size as the mug paper which goes between the wrap and the transfer paper on the mug. This usually lasts a good 3-5 mug cooks before it goes too brown.

I've had the odd green wrap which has sprung open, just bend the little catch backwards with pliers to tighten the grip.

If you are getting print transfer onto the wrap, your temperature is probably too high. I accidentality knocked the oven temp up to 190 degrees roughly and the image transferred onto the wrap. Using heavier paper such as TruePix will also prevent image transfer. No extra silicone or paper required.

When I remove the mug from the oven once I remove the silicon wrap the print shows albeit faintly through the paper and you can tell if the print has been successful, however on the odd occasion where I have tried to put the wrap back onits never turned out brilliant.
I was just wondering if the wrap was opaque whether you would be able to see before you remove the wrap.

I dont put paper in between the wrap and the print and always tape the print on.

You shouldn't need to check. But removing the silicone wrap will cause the transfer to move causing print issues.
