Re: Mug Mystery (to me anyway)

Post by raydavies »

I recently saw some bone china mugs for sale in a Tearoom/Coffee shop and am intrigued by the images and print on them.

It looks, at first sight, like sublimation but when I handled them it felt like a thin vinyl as there was a very slight edge to each image or letter. It cannot be vinyl as they are claimed to be both dishwasher and microwave safe.

They retail at £16.00 each which got my attention!

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Ray

May be decals fired into the glaze.

Yes, That does seem likely - thanks for the response.

Most full colour mugs tend to be waterslide transfers which as mentioned are fired in an oven similar to screen print.
