Re: Xpres studio twin press

Post by Bex »

Hi everyone,

I’ve got an Xpres Studio Twin mug press. I’m starting to get patchy results on the left side. The left side has done 273 prints and right 281. I was told that it should do on average around 500 prints on each side. I’ve obviously got to replace the left wrap but does 273 prints sound about right?

Thank you

Have you changed your mugs? Some mugs may not be entirely straight, so if the blanket is not tight enough, you will get patchy results. Always keep an eye on your pressure to make sure that it is tight enough around the mug.

Thanks for your reply. Not changed the mugs, I only use Xpres mugs. Do you think around 280 is about right for the Studio press?

I would expect it to last longer, but the warranty for those heat blankets is only 6 months.

280 mugs does sound very low for an element, especially from Adkins.

Are you allowing enough 'dwell time' for the element to return to proper temperature between presses? The thermostat on most presses turns off when the press is in the closed possition and temperature can drop off after a few presses.

Also don't just assume that the temperature shown on the led display is 100% acurate. Get a laser thermometer to check it is at the correct temperature.
