Hello all

I've previously only done a few one colour vinyl designs on clothing/bags, but have been asked to do this design

onto a black t-shirt. it's a little joke for the brownie leader, but i still want to do it well  i'll be speaking to them tomorrow, but i assume it will just be the circle design, so the yellow circle with the white clover. it's definitely the two colours. how do i layer this??

i should be using PolyFlex vinyl, and according to the seller, it is suitable for layering.

i watched this video () and it seems straight forward enough, but my query is really should i do it similar to the video, in that i press a white circle first, and then the yellow on top with the cut out clover (obviously)?? or do i do it where i cut out the white clover and then the yellow and (hopefully) align them perfectly?!:eek:

thanks

Personal preference I suppose, but I'd do it the second way myself, ie. yellow circle with the white design on top. It should be dead easy to align the design just by eyeballing it. My usual way of layering is to press the background layer for only a few seconds, just enough to get it to adhere to the shirt, then press for the full time once both designs are on the press.

I have been looking into this too. I wasn't too sure about pressing times so I will be trying this. Can you build up a few layers of colours or would only 2 colours be advisable? (Sorry to jump onto your thread mate)

no worries, Coops, the more we can all learn the better

i told my dad about both ways and he said it should be easy enough to line them up, too. i guess doing it the second way saves on some vinyl!!

thanks!

some vinyl will not layer......
if doing multi layer, important that the 1st layer down doesn't get too cooked, - or it will de-laminate, and loose its stick

Ive just finished making a t-shirt for a friend.

There are 2 layers of vinyl, pressed each layer for 10secs each and then pressed for another 5-10secs after backing removed. I think it's come out alright. You can faintly see the vinyl underneath so next time I would cut the vinyl more to each shape (like puzzle pieces).

Hi Coops,
With that logo I would have cut out the text and Godzilla from the red and not layered at all.

I thought that too, after I pressed it lol.

My only concern will be lining it up, should I make it marginally bigger so there is a slight overlap?

Yes, I would have made a slight overlap too. 2mm would be enough.
