Photoshop setting for good black Photoshop CS6

Hi folks
Please advise me on the standard photoshop settings:-
> Match Print Colours
> Black Compensation
> Rendering Intent.
I want to get the best quality black possible

I see you are using an sRGB profile. You'll have a difficult job getting correct blacks and colours without installing the correct ICC profile for your ink/paper setup. That's the very first thing you need to tackle. Your ink supplier should be able to supply a profile.

When you were buying your profile, were you given colour charts to print off from City Ink Express? Did you use the Adobe Color Printing Utility to do them?

Ah, ok. I use Photoshop CS5 with CIE inks and have my settings as -

Rendering Intent: Relative Colorimetric

Black Point Compenstion: (doesn't seem to make any difference whether it's on or off!).

I know some recommend Perceptual for Rendering Intent. I think it's a case of try it and see.

The world of digital colour is very complicated and trial and error is often the best way forward, as long as you have the correct profile installed and your equipment is performing well (no blocked heads etc).

As for 'Match Print Colors,' mine is switched off.

Hi,
I have a Ricoh, not your printer. But here's a couple of thoughts -

- It looks like your print is only black so you could set the printer to print greyscale rather than colour, then the printer would only be using the black ink cartridge.

- The driver for my Ricoh has a setting to only print black using the black cartridge and not a mixture of CYM. Maybe your Espon has a similar option.
