Hello everyone,
I wonder if you can help. My Genie mug press has developed a melted adjustment screw as when the mug press is closed the plastic screw is touching the hot metal blanket. It looks to me like its being caused by the fact that when I move the handle to close the press, the back plate is rising up making the plastic screw dip down and touch the heat blanket. I've attached a video clip that hopefully shows what I mean. My husband has taken a good look at the machine and nothing appears to be loose.
Listawood have kindly offered to take a look at it even though it's out of warranty but it will cost quite a bit to post down and I'd rather use that cash towards a new one. I could do with an extra one anyway.
The press is still working very well so I'd like to try and fix it. Can anyone suggest what might be causing this to happen?
Thanks, Melanie
Melted Adjustment Screw on Mug Press
Re: Melted Adjustment Screw on Mug Press
Have you recently changed your mugs? My mug press does something similar but not the same extent, if I use smaller diameter mugs.
Re: Melted Adjustment Screw on Mug Press
Remove the plastic nut then put 2 steel nuts on and lock them together so you can still adjust it,my press is a different make but when I bought it I couldn't get enough pressure because the bolt was to short so I used threaded bar with 2 nuts locked together and it's worked alright for 5 years.
Re: Melted Adjustment Screw on Mug Press
I use white gloss and clear glass mugs. The glass ones are a slightly smaller diameter than the white gloss.
