We just drove to Preston and back yesterday (5 hours in total) and picked another 9600 up, as ours was only printing well enough in slowest/highest quality, which was no good for the large textile prints - a standard front and back panel for a 45cm cushion cover was taking nearly 2 hours, and we have an order due next month which is likely going to need around 100 of them doing!
This new one was bought from new, and had hardly been used - spotless inside and out!
I'm going to try and resurrect the old one.
Running the INIT FILL on the new one at the mo, so it's ready for the staff in the morning. (yawn!)
Don't give up, there are good ones out there that haven't been run into the ground yet!

Yeah, found a few 9600's and a 7880 has my name on it but I have to get it right, very expensive and time consuming trip to collect :-)

If you can stick to the 9xxx then there is more choice of papers for that width and better pricing per square metre.
9600s are trick as they are so old now to find ones that still have good life left in them, so best to go and see it in person (athough I realise that isn't easy for you)

Thanks Tim, understand what you're saying. 9880 looks best, pricier but hopefully get a longer life. Found a couple of very low use machines as well as the usual refurbs so looking promising.
