Please help problem with my epson 1400.

Hi I've had a message saying I need my Epson 1400 servicing due to saturated ink pads, is this worth getting done? Can I do it myself?
if not is there an A4 Epson printer anyone can recommend as a cheap replacement please?

There is software out there that'll reset your printer so the message will go & your printer will be ok.
