We have the mp5 (the big brother of the sprint). I can understand the comment about 'babysitting' as maintenance and general care of these machines is very important. You can't just turn them off and leave them for a few days and expect to turn them back on and print straightaway. We have about 4 daily Maintenance checks to do EVERY day.
DTGs do not like sitting around doing nothing, so having lots of work for them is an advantage.
Sprint is a good machine, and we did consider it... Whatever you decide be prepared to spend plenty of time looking after you investment.

We have a heater on in the room the dtg is in for 24 hours a day, we also have a humidifier running. Temp of room needs to be no less than 16 and humidity at no less than 45%... If we fall below this range we can tell when we do nozzle checks, and when in this range the printer runs sweet. We are in a large industrial unit, so had to put printer into one of our offices, you can't just put them anywhere.
the white ink needs to be shaken every day as it settles. You needs to do a lot of maintaining the inside of the machine to keep the heads clean and free.
It can be left over the weekend, but the full cleaning routine needs to be done on a Monday morning.
DTG is great, but you need to be committed to keeping it maintained we have found
