Re: Empty Refillable Cartridges for 3100 to flush out tubes
Anyone have a set of empty cartridges (x4) for sale (before we jump onto eBay)?
Having bought a new SG400 we want to turn our 3100 back from Sawgrass to OEM ink (office use) and thanks to really useful YouTube video by Adam from DyeSublimationSupplies then we know the process.
PM me if you have. Thank you. Olly.

Why not just put the new cartridges in? The ink will flush as you go.

Although this was our first thought apparently it would take a large number of print outs for the tubes to be flushed fully of dye sub ink and we require the colour print outs to be consistant in colour as will be used for the printing of artworks.

Interesting.
I would have thought the same degree of flushing would be be required to remove the cleaning fluid, used to remove the sub ink. Although on saying that I always flushed my wide format printers when going from one ink to another when buying, using and selling, so I do see where you are coming from.
Is the ricoh up to printing works of art? I have always thought of it as a bit of an office cart horse rather than a fine filly. I may have under estimated it!

When i put different inks in my 3110 it gave me the option to purge the olds inks out. Ricohs are fine business printers but not if you want something really good reproducing.

Having spoken to Adam at DYS then I would prefer to purge the old dye sub inks with deionized water before putting in the OEM inks in order not to start mixing inks. And when I said artwork then I don't mean anything too fancy, just good enough for printing fridge magnet designs. Can't wait as final parts of badge pressing machine turning up from Belgium today (exact machine as sold by a UK supplier but at HALF the price). The sublimation magnets are either rubbish (too thin for gift shop selling) or way tooooo expensive to buy blank and to make a margin on. I must admit I can getting a little tired of us in the UK paying over the odds for some sublimation substrates. I wonder if any of us actually cut out the middle man?!
