Re: Spam!

Post by Stitch Up »

I get on average about 600 spam emails EACH DAY!

Yes, I have several email accounts and all seem to be affected.

I've tried many spam solutions and the best I've used so far is Mailwasher Pro. This program has proved to be the best for me as I collect email from my various accounts on several PCs. Mailwasher Pro is installed on 1 PC and removes the spam BEFORE it's downloaded from the server, so it doesn't end up on any of my other PCs.

However, it's still tiresome getting so much spam and I wonder if any of you guys know of a better solution - changing email addresses isn't an option.

I believe most of the spam originates from infected PCs and probably not from intentional spamming machines.

Look forward to your views.

Gmails spam filters are probably the best out there.

There are ways of using Gmail to collect email from other addresses. Not sure if this info is up to date or not, but it shows the gist of it. https://askleo.com/how_do_i_route_my_em ... ugh_gmail/

If the email addresses are for a domain you own, they have Google Apps for Work, which is probably a better solution, but involves quite a bit of setting up.

Thanks all for the replies.

I've been digging deeper into the features of my existing spam program - Mailwasher Pro. I discovered 'rules' which, now configured, is helping enormously :) Of course it doesn't stop the menace and quantity of spam I receive, but, it does automatically move them to the bin, so I don't see them unless I go to look. Because Mailwasher works on the email server, I only need to install it on one PC and it saves me the exhausting process of removal on all PCs.

I've got nowt to do with the producers of MWPro, just that it's the best I've used to date.
