Re: Taking our first steps

Good evening all, just thought I would drop a quick introduction for myself and my wife who are taking our first steps into running a small part time home printing venture. I currently work in the industry already doing design work for heat press and embroidery work wear and PPE. We're often asked about promotional items to compliment this and despite me trying to convince the bosses we need to branch out they refuse to do so, so I thought it an ideal opportunity to have a go myself. My wife's job is going nowhere so she's looking to get out of it sometime in the future so initially we would run this alongside our current jobs with the hope that in the future she would be able to switch to doing this full time from home.

We've read lots of articles and reviews, watched plenty of videos and have hopefully made some sense of it all. Having said that we're still happy to take as much advice as people can throw at us, and i'm sure we may still have lots of questions.

Initially for our printer we have gone for a Ricoh SG3110DN, a bargain at £41.65 brand new so I could refuse. We're going to be using the Sublijet inks which I know are expensive but we want to make sure we have quality stuff to start with instead of buying very cheap then having to buy an alternative again when things don't quite work.

I already deal with Xpres so will most likely use them for a fair amount of our supplies initially, although I very much doubt i'll be able to use works discount so have gladly paid my £10 membership here to support the forum and take advantage of possible savings.

With regards to the heat press, we want to do a variety of mugs including the latte mugs so have been looking at presses with different inserts. The one that I think we are going to go for is the Galaxy Mug Press (not the pro), does anyone have any experience with this model and if so, what do you think?

Anyway, thats us and our idea.. hopefully it works, but nothing ventured, nothing gained :)
