Re: Marking to Fabric when Sublimating polyester

Post by cass »

Hi,

Hoping for some advice on this issue as I'm new to sublimation.

I get polyester/spandex sportswear made in China and have bought an adkins heat press to add some logos to them here.

Im having 3 problems i could do with some help with below.

On pressing the garment i am using grease proof paper on the bottom and top of the garment.

Pressing for 90 seconds at 180 degrees C - as per the paper manufacturers guide sheet.

On releasing i am getting:

1. an edge mark from the heat press plate

2. and edge mark from the transfer paper

3. scorching/slight melting of the fabric resulting in a shine.

I have reduced the pressure which has reduced the scorching to the fabric but I'm worried that reducing it further will effect the transfer.

Any advice is appreciated, i hope i can give general garment advice to other users in the future.

Thanks

Reduce heat/time to reduce melting - you will have to play with these variables to find the sweet point.
rip/tear the edges of your transfer paper to not have such a sharp line impressed into the fabric
