Re: End of my tether!

Nearing the end of my tether now with the Ricoh 3110dn and Sublijet-R inks.

I just cannot find a balance that will stop the inks from browning in the middle when cooked in my Coral 2 press and fading at the outer edges.

I was previously running with an Epson WF 3010DW running a generic sub ink and cheap Chinese generic press from ebay (now dead) with Xpres paper. I got perfect mugs every time at 180C for 180sec

I've had the temp as low as 160C for 150sec but the extremities of the image fade too much this low.

Wishing I hadn't upgraded now and sold the old kit!!

Any ideas folks? Anyone got a similar setup?

170c for 240sec as a strating point. Then just adjust time up or down.

Is that 240sec from switch on Paul or 240sec cooking at 170C?

I heat my press to correct temp (170C) then put blank mug in. Temperature start dropping. once it stops dropping i press countdown button. so 240sec starts from there.

Just shows how much different presses work differently. I was printing mugs today and press at 170 degrees when mugs come out, put next mug in and start process... temp drops as normal and climbs to 170 degrees and timer then counts down 120 seconds. Blacks are black and colours all fine all over the mug.

I have not been doing this long enough to give advice, but my mug press from Listawoods. Recommended settings temperatures and times 180c and 180 seconds
The way mine works is, the temperature get to 170c which is when I put the mug in. The temperature initially drops and then rises back to 180c which then it starts the countdown. I started with the Ricoh 3100 and now have a SawGrass Virtuoso. And the only fading I have suffered is from user error. I would say we have a 99% success rate.

Presses are all different in some way or other. My press from BMS works brilliantly at 170 degrees for 55 seconds on a pre warmed mug. Basically I hit start with a dummy mug in then once up to around 160 degrees place the image transfer mug in the press, clamp, press, ping, warm dunk and jobs a goodun.

Oh the printer is 7700 running Sublijet R inks on Trupix paper.
