Are you looking for sublimation or regular use?

Hi Justin.
Could be both...I was considering something for my wife's photography business until mine started playing up. Mrs Janners may have to wait.

I'm just in the process of buying a 9600. I don't trust the 7890 for sublimation anymore having had a nightmare. It's a shame as when they're working the 7890 is a superb bit of kit.

No need for 8 colours for sublimation really go for a surecolor they come in 24 36 and 42 inch and you can convert the pigment machine just as the 7890 is converted. Theyre a lot cheaper too (im a epson dealer and engineer)

Well, we certainly saw a good improvement on colour reproduction using a 7 colour over a 4 colour (when we upgraded from a Stylus Pro 4400 to a 7600/9600, all using Inktec inks and with our own ICC profiling. The improvement was enough for us to not ever want to go back to only 4 colours.

Whilst I agree that most users will be satisfied with a 4 colour output, there are definite improvements that can be seen on an 7/8 colour system. Skin tones and gradients especially and again this may not be over important to some but personally I have clients who insist on close matching. Comparisons between my 3110/7100 and my 9600 really are night and day.

I agree for photographs itll be a better I also convert 8 colour machines but id say 75% of my clients only want 4 colour. I have to supply a different ink for the LLK as INktec dont do that colour, im currently testing manoukian inks. Theres a new 8 colour Epson to be launched soon so that will be interesting. 9600 were good as they didnt use a LLK , Ive a couple clients using a orange or purples as an extra colour and I profile using a wasatch.
