Re: OpenCart Issue - Image Upload Permissions

Post by Justin »

I am having a few problems with an image upload mod. I have received tech support from the creator but can't for the life of me work out exactly what needs to be done. This is what they've sent me.....

The problem is due to permission issue on your store host causing PHP not able to create new folder.

Please make sure the PHP user is the same as the opencart folder user/group & set the correct folder permission or group/owner for your opencart folder and the file upload folder(if not using custom path).

Can anyone help me with this please?

if you use a program such as winscp to ftp to your site you should be able to see the problem right away.. permissions is normally a case of ensuring the right user is assigned and you give the right permission, this often means 777 then dialing it back to the lowest you can get away with.

tough one to explain without just getting in there and doing it.

Many thanks for your reply. They've emailed again with the following:

According to information in http://www.printshetland.com/sellya_store/phpinfo.php, your PHP seems to be running by 'nobody' user, which is not the same user that created the 'sellya_store' folder.

Make sure both users are the same. Please consult your hosting provider on how to run php using a proper linux user or the user that created the 'sellya_store' opencart folder. Due to this, PHP can't create new folder or upload new files to the folder.

You can also remove custom upload path by leaving the "File Upload Folder" setting blank in your COPUpload extension settings.

Or you could try changing the permission for 'sellya_store' to 777 which is not recommended for security reason.

I've emailed my host to see about the php issue.
