Re: Subli 2 Cotton

I have got my sample pack from BMS and have given it a try. The instructions say to sprinkle over a layer of powder. My first effort did not take to well as the powder had not covered the whole image enough. I may have been over cautious with the sprinkling though. 2nd try was more successful as I used a thick coating of the powder, most of the sample pack, and shook off the excess. I was only doing an image 2 x 2 inch so placed the printed paper in an ice cream tub, tipped the sample powder in and gave it a shake to cover the paper. This gave me a better coating and also meant the powder could be in there until next time. Time and temp have been spot on no problems there.
I was disappointed about the final feel of the product though. It may be because I done a square of colour, but it feels just like a square of thick vinyl, very heavy and no give. Maybe I misunderstood the advertising and got drawn in with sublimating to cotton as the holy grail but I was expecting it to be more into the cotton not on top of it, if that makes sense.

I conclusion I will use the material for a customer who has a multi coloured or intricate logo/design that would be a nightmare to weed or do multiple presses with different coloured vinyl, but not for a photo or anything that is a solid design.

I will post some photos when my phone is charged.
Many thanks
Iain

Here's am image we may all recognize. With the larger or a solid block image I have found the print and powder tend to either smudge or comes away when peeling.

Looks good Quinsfan, I think I have misunderstood also, because I thought this was going to be a sublimation effect but on cotton.

Effectively are you are saying this is like TMT's WOW system?
