Brother DCP-J140W - Does not seem to print black ink

Please can all you wonderfully intelligent people help?? I have filled up my reusable cartridges with my ink, and have had the error message Ink something something full. Googled how to get rid of message and did that! Now my printer wont print any black it seems or blue . . . I urgently need my printer working as I have my first fleamarket tomorrow and cant get it working .... any ideas???

Possibly an airlock if it was working ok before, you could try taking the refill bung out to let air in, if that doesn't work get a syringe (without the needle) and put the end over the refill hole, put your finger over the breather hole and gently squeeze the syringe, you should feel a bit of pressure, then do an head clean.
