As I thought though when I was doing the couple I did, doing a full cover (top to bottom) print has a little haziness (blur) towards the top. Maybe best to stop just before the lip for a clean line ..................... but hey, this is just my opinion and it's probably because I have become so critical over everything ending in with 'ug'

Yes, looks as thought you need to stop at the line to get a crisp finish.

I personally don't dislike the way it goes over the lip. We have some of the large latte mugs done with a winter scene with the dog on it and they look cool (no pun intended... well okay there was!)
