A bit off track but the old 3300 just died after 2 years, still had about £100 of ink left in it, had a quick google and found a new printer for £115 with a free 8gb flash drive included, now it's not the perfect solution, but the old cartridges won't fit the new Ricoh, so they would have been binned. So looking at the facts, the Ricoh never gave me one problem in two years, not even the slightest clog, it cost me £1 per week just for the printer, i can live with that.

You'll love it, things i found, don't believe the amount of ink left, go into Conde on youtube and they tell you how to find the exact % off ink left, around 20% left when it says replace cartridge! Do the same when it tells you the tank is full. I turned mine off everytime i wasn't going to use it for a couple of days, never caused any problems. Anything is better than the nozzle clogging Epsons we used to run, still got the ink stains to remind me.

If it cost £170 more for ink than you worked out how much did you initially work the ink out to cost?
Do I also assume that you fell foul of the CMYK print black with all colours issue? I really find it hard to believe that printing 600 x 10cm x 10cm squares would cost £170 in ink period let alone on top of your already undisclosed figure (if you had set CMYK printing to 0,0,0,100 first) BUT if you had printed your black with CMY cartridges printing also then I can see where the waste of money came from.

I'm only trying to tell people to beware - if you dont believe it thats fine - all I know is next time I know how much to quote to cover my back.

No, I never doubted your figures, I was just trying to work out how such a cost could have been saved. I am saying that it is often misunderstood that a Black is often printed with all 4 cartridges and that the simple adjustment to the CMYK settings to print with Black only will save a small fortune in other inks.
We are both after the same aim to save other members costs
