We need definitive lessons on this as I am getting perfect blacks even from 72 or 96dpi (what ever screen resolution is) .jpgs with my cheapie Chinese Mug Press.

The only problem I sometimes have is slight fading at the bottom edges near the handle - but that's my press (or more like where I position the Mug within the cheap Press).

That's with Ricoh/Sawgrass - 180/180.

When I use my 300dpi purchased mug templates I get the same (from what MY eye can see prefect) results.. this MUST be just individual settings - Shirley ? I used to live in Shirley (Solihull) but I meant to say Surely - Surely ?

I seem to get blacks that are a bit grey. I think you have to adjust the trapping within your software to make the colours overprint, otherwise all the colours will knockout except the black. I think that's probably my problem. Luckily most of what I print is blue which comes out lovely!!

I have had similar problems with mugs that have a black border - think of a cartoon in a box with a thick border around it, full bleed. using the same file, same paper, same mugs, same press one day they are black top and bottom and sides round to the handle, next day they fade out at the edges - often the top edge near the andle is the worst. I preheat the mugs and it doesn't seem to make much difference whether the mug is too hot to handle or just comfortably warm (I really need to measure the temp accurately!).

My 'fix' at the moment to avoid so much wastage is not to do full bleed black - not an ideal solution.
