In my own experience.....I seem to be saying that a lot tonight! A decent built PC that's maintained properly (and that's the key) will run and run with little or no issues. So many folk seem to think the PC will look after itself which simply isn't the case. I'm constantly cleaning, checking etc. but the system (touch wood) works perfectly for that bit of ongoing attention.
I prefer PC for the simple fact that I like to get in and get my hands dirty, be able to upgrade and, if needed, throw away and start again!
I just don't see the point in paying out a great deal on a Mac only to then run a program that allows you to boot into a Windows environment. Linux is certainly the way forward but it's not on a level that is user friendly or software compatible enough just yet.
Couple of things I've changed with my system over the years. I only run WinXP, I don't allow any automatic updates after installing SP2, this has made a huge difference.
Sorry not been on here lately...

regarding program to run windows on mac
If you pay loads of money for windows sensible thing to do is use it. not bin it.
I got quite few programs in my collection that cant be used on imac. so i run windows to get all lot on my imac. simply as i dont want to waste my money.
another thing is that software run5 times faster then on pc with similar specs.
I think comparision should be done by somone who own both, pc and iamc.
btw osX is Linux
and one thing about upgrades... you can do it on mac as ease as on pc. memory upgradins is actualy easier then pc.
i will made little video to show how i use win apps under mac and how easy this is.
