Just seen that BESTSUB in Poland will not calculate UK shipping online.

They will take your order and then email you with a total cost including delivery for you to accept or not.

The surcharge applied by TNT etc is for their admin charges for processing the parcel through customs. They will then invoice you for your local vat and any other charges applied by the local customs.

I am horrified, my dog has been using a specialist wheelchair from France, and we need to return it, at Christmas I got a price for the parcel £14.55 it is 5.5kg. Today it is £67.08 through the same Royal Mail carrier !

If anyone has access to a carrier that will cost less, please let me know, as this has left me ispeechless, after all of the expenses we have had with our dog since his operation I cannot believe we now have to pay over £50 more (plus extra insurance taking it to nearly £80)

On another note, do any of you use a 3rd party parcel insurer so as not to pay the huge amounts wanted by the parcel companies ?
I have had a quote from Secursus for £6.50 for £800 worth of cover which is £37 with DPD the only problem is when I declare the parcel value but say I will not buy the additional insurance, DPD will not accept the order for carriage. Secursus say that I should put a low value on the parcel, as they are insuring it for the £800.

It looks like "Getting back the control" is going to be very expensive for us :(

Unfortunately I think you are caught between a rock and a hard place with this and I feel for you. I do not think there is anything you can do except spend the money. Parcel delivery to the EU at the moment is a complete shower of shite. What is making it worse is that you have no idea if your parcel will actually make it to the destination or not as consignments are randomly being returned without any reason.

With regards to the insurance, do what your insurance says. When sending put a value of £20.00 and then with the third party insurance make sure you put the correct value. Ideally you need confirmation in writing/email that this is what they have told you to do.

Yep, it was pretty obvious from day one for 48% of us... but at least we have our blue passports...

At least we can go back to driving on the left hand side of the road again, and we will be able to buy beer by the pint.
Oh! wait... we always could.

The new passport is Black. I dont know where they got the idea it was blue.
And dont forget the happy fish.

Mrs Maggot. I would wait a few months and see what happens. Its all a bit chaotic at the moment and maybe it will sort itself out.

I hope so, but I am a bit worried about the 'rules of origin'. If I buy a Bangladeshi made garment from my Italian wholesaler will it be subject to duty because it isn't EU made?
The same applies to UK suppliers selling Chinese made sublimation blanks to the EU. Will their customers get a nasty surprise?
