Here's an example of what I'm getting with the wrap the height of the mug, almost to the handle at both sides, and no cover except the silicone wrap. Cooking temp 180° C ~ 200° C for 9 minutes (once oven has reached temp)...

This was taken a while back when I was using LW 10oz mugs.

No faffing around cutting to shape - I just cut the paper longer and break it over the handles so that it pretty much covers everything.

yes i see what you mean when i first looked I thought it was all perfectly cut to shape. Thanks for posting the pic, its good to know I'm not alone with this problem. I've just made a paper rectangle bridge for now so the tape doesn't touch the mug and it has fixed it although it doesn't hold the sub sheet in place like direct tape did. Once Ive used up my preprinted sublimation sheets I'll try printing 2 a page and use your method :)

that is a really fab print :) so just to confirm, you use the heat protection tape directly touching your mug, just under where the handle is, and it never leaves any marks? I've got my mugs down to 170 C (with thermometer reading) and they still leave the yellow mark where the tape has been. Anyway sorting by not putting the tape directly on mug in future when using the halogen oven, just find it odd others not having the same problem.
